The log cabin we stayed in was incredibly comfortable, with a fantastic bed and a powerful shower. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the dog-friendly surroundings made it a great place for walks. The location was convenient for our needs, and the hotel itself had a charming, old-school charm.
The breakfast options were fairly average, with limited selection. The Wi-Fi signal didn't reach our room, and we couldn't figure out how to turn down the heater.

The grounds the hotel was set in.
They have tried to update the rooms, but still have a way to go. The carpet and bed in our room needed changing. The bed dipped in the middle. Not good when you suffer with back pain. We travelled from Yorkshire for an evening wedding reception, so we needed a good nights sleep, which we did not get.

A characterful hotel situated in beautiful countryside. The gardens are lovely and the staff very freindly and attentive.

The cabins in the grounds were very comfortable. Athough the weather was not good if it were, to sit on the veranah and socialise would have made for an excellent experience. I highly recommend them

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. the location was quiet and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. the room was clean and comfortable, with a cozy bed and fresh towels. the staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring our needs were met. the breakfast had a variety of choices and everything was cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the lovely view from our room and the convenient facilities provided, such as the microwave.
There were some signs of wear in certain areas of the hotel.

The hotel is in a secluded location but well signposted. Good to stay in an historic building with all it's attendant quirks rather than a sterile chain hotel. The interior is a bit tired but has tremendous potential. Food was excellent, the service was polite but very much in the family hotel style. My room was pleasant and spacious. With some investment and staff training this could be a great hotel.
I wasn't too impressed with the staff discussion held in the restaurant while I was eating, not very professional. The sofa in my room was extremely uncomfortable

Great self-service breakfast with a variety of options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely gardens and surroundings. Convenient location near Thurston Station and a short train ride into Bury.
Felt like a true getaway, no complaints.

Pleasant and helpful bath, good sized rooms, excellent breakfast.
The hotel is welcoming but obviously needs to invest in some basic decoration and maintainance to enhance the overall experience.

peaceful location
the food: the main courses were cook -chill meals. One of my colleagues had to send main course back because it was burned black. Some of the staff seemed very inexperienced, and had difficulty in understanding what was being offered on the menus.

The staff were very accommodating and very helpful. The building is gorgeous and the surroundings simply stunning, just a fantastic place to wake up.
Unfortunately we were unable to use the shower in the bathroom, and had no choice but to use the bath - which was quite inconvenient for my wife as she needed to wash her (long) hair after the wedding we attended in the area. We were only notified of this upon arrival.
